Industry leaders Drive System Design and Alvier Mechatronics unveil next stage of partnership, driving forward sustainable electrification

March 2023 – Drive System Design (DSD), specialists in rapid engineering, development and electrified propulsion systems, in partnership with Alvier Mechatronics, experts in advanced materials and production methods for sustainable high-volume applications have unveiled their next generationintegrated drive system (iDS).

The co-developed iDS delivers the industry benchmark highly integrated 3-in-1 package. It showcasesadvanced technologies, such as powder metallurgy gears and additive manufactured motor end-windings, that support customers in achieving their sustainability and efficiency goals as cost-effectively as possible.

Since launching the partnership in 2022, DSD’s expertise in rapid development engineering and Alvier Mechatronics’ experience in novel manufacturing methods for sustainable high-volume applications, material know-how and electromagnetic design have focused upon the iDS. Throughefficient collaboration, the design was brought from concept into validation, in a time frame far shorter than the industry standard EDU.

The continued partnership will change the game for DSD’s cross-sector customer base, who will be able to access industry-leading solutions and expertise to tackle the ever-evolving challenges within the electric vehicle market, while also minimising costs.

Mark Findlay, Managing Director at DSD said: “Working with Alvier over the last couple of years has strengthened both our ability to evaluate sustainability as a system attribute from the conception of new products, alongside our industry leading turn-key development capability.. Our partnership has meant that we have been able to provide more rounded offerings to our customers, ensuring that their sustainable electrification needs in a constantly changing electric vehicle industry are met.”

Daniel Hervén, CEO at Alvier Mechatronics echoed Findlay’s enthusiasm for the partnership: “The development of the iDS, encapsulating game-changing technology that delivers sustainable propulsion, is only the start of this strategic partnership with DSD.

“We’ve already seen major advantages and developments from combining our unique skill sets, especially in the speed of development that DSD has brought to us. Our success is only going to improve in the future as we continue to build and grow our partnership.”
